Pleasantville
In this truly pleasant, modern fairy-tale set in the 1950's, everyone lives in a black and white world. As a metaphor for simplicity, the film appears in black and white which gradually changes to color. Judianna Makovsky, who designed the wardrobe for this picture, has a diverse background in film, ranging from costumes for "Big" to "Great Expectations." Her qualifications were well suited to enhance the effect of the magical transformation from yesterday to today. Courtesy New Line Cinema. Academy Award® nomination for Best Costume Design.
