This summer is a fashion throwback to the 1970's, complete with glitzy disco glamour and Charlie's Angels attitude. Hair is going the retro way with feathered styles reminiscent of Farrah Fawcett's younger days. You can get sparkling hair highlights with glittery sprays and gels. The 70's fondness for frosting is revisiting salons too. Gwen Stefani, singer of the cool band No Doubt, has inspired a pink-feathered-hair-obsession with her pretty neon-pink tresses.

Hair color is going to all kinds of spectrum extremes this summer. It's the great American "Bleach-out" with girls and guys getting blonde streaks to blend in with their natural haircolors. Bleaching is big this summer, and the more imaginative the bleaching effect, the better. "Chunking" is another popular hair phenom. You choose a contrasting color to your own and get chunks of highlights done in that color. Combinations of different red-on-red shades are hot. Crazy colors like smoldering orange, fiery yellow, passionate purple, and blue denim aren't just for clubs anymore. You can have fun with temporary colors in these blinding shades to try them before keeping them.

If the rainbow brites are just not your thing, don=D5t panic. You can create a new summer sparkle just by deepening your natural tones or adding blonde highlights for a seasonal brightening.
