Dear Fashion Girl,

Dear Fashion Girl,

I'm hoping you have some advice on how to create my own sense of style that's like no one else's.

Sincerely, StarLynnRose

Dear StarLynnRose,

Work it from the inside out! Your style should reflect what's going on inside your personality, talents, dreams, fears, and especially eccentricities. All of these make your style completely unique and different from anyone else's. Creating your own sense of style is a matter of tapping into your own special inner energy and expressing it on the outside. Let your inner style intuition guide you. Envision the kind of person you want the world to know you as. Step outside of yourself and see what others see. It helps to look at candid photographs and video of yourself. Listen to people around you.

When someone compliments you, write down what they say. You will see a trend develop with certain colors and styles that you're wearing. Keep up with fashion trends but don't be swayed by passing fads. Developing your own style sense means bringing a part of you into every trend you adopt. You will know when something is just "not you." Let your clothes tell the story of you.

Always keep in mind that fashion is only one way that the world perceives your unique style. Your style also shines through in your actions, tastes, relationships, and talents. In other words, your aura! Focus on building up your inner self, and your style (and wardrobe!) will follow naturally. Self-confidence and a great personality never has and never will go out of style. Take fashion designer Kenneth Cole's style advice: "To be aware is more important than what you wear."

Sincerely,
