General Information
Transportation
All FIDM campuses are located in key cities with many public transportation options available to meet students’ needs. For information on selective transportation schedules, student discounts on public transportation, and directions, see your Student Activities Department. For carpool information and to sign up to be a part of a carpool, see Student Housing (LA). If you are on the San Diego, San Francisco, or Orange County campus, see your Student Advisor for these services.
Parking Information
Parking is not guaranteed and fees may be applicable. See the Student Activities Department for parking information for your campus.
Bookstore
The FIDM Bookstore stocks college related reference books, small supplies, notebooks, art materials, trade publications, and other supplemental items. The store also sells emblematic clothing and accessories made especially for FIDM. The bookstore hours are posted on each campus.
Tote Bags
A FIDM tote bag will be provided to students during the first quarter of each academic year. Tote bag distribution days and hours are posted quarterly. Additional FIDM tote bags may be purchased in the FIDM Bookstore.
Museum & Galleries
The FIDM Museum & Galleries houses a 12,000 piece collection of historical, film, ethnic, couture, and ready-to-wear garments and accessories. The Museum provides students, educators, scholars, and industry personnel with a useful resource to examine the roles that costumes and textiles play within various world cultures. The collection is sustained using standard museum practices for continued acquisition and preservation, with a focus on the development of education, exhibition, outreach, and volunteer programs. For more information, including exhibit calendar and hours of operation, visit the Museum & Galleries website at www.fashionmuseum.org.
Museum Shop
The FIDM Museum Shop On The Park, located on the Los Angeles campus, features unique and one-of-a-kind accessories and home décor. Many of these distinctive pieces are designed by FIDM faculty, alumni, and students. Contact the Los Angeles Campus for shop hours. You may buy online from the FIDM Museum Shop at www.thefidmmuseumshop.org.
Health Information
We provide minor first aid supplies, as well as non-FIDM student health insurance options, even though FIDM does not have a health office or a nurse’s center. See your campus receptionist for the specific location of the minor first aid supplies. Links to health insurance options are available on the Student Portal under “Other Resources”.
Student Lounge
Each FIDM campus has a Student Lounge. This is a place to eat lunch, catch up on homework, get information on campus events and activities, participate in campus events and activities, or to just relax. Microwaves and vending machines are also available for student use.
Student Photo Identification Cards
Every current student must have a FIDM student photo ID card and must wear it while on campus. This card is required for access to any FIDM campus, and it also allows you to check out books at the FIDM library, purchase California attraction tickets, and facilitate getting student discounts around town.
Lost & Found
Students lose things all the time. Many don’t know that there is a lost and found at FIDM. Students should check the lost and found before replacing supplies. See the receptionist for the location of the lost and found on your campus.
