Faculty Story

Yachiyo Youlin

Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, FIDM Instructor Yachiyo Youlin brings a global perspective to the Interior Design courses she teaches. With degrees in Textile Design and Interior Design from both Japan and California, she has worked in the field of Interior Design for almost 25 years while also teaching at the college level. Some of her major accomplishments are designing for Disney World in Florida, the St. Regis Hotel in New York City, and Caesar’s Palace in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

In her years at FIDM, Yachiyo has found that “FIDM Students are very focused, dedicated, and determined in pursuit of their dreams.” “I enjoy teaching at FIDM because I love seeing the results and progress from my students at all levels,” says Yachiyo. “All my classes involve teaching techniques and skills. It’s challenging, but it’s exciting and very rewarding.”
