"I discovered art and design at an early age" explains FIDM graduate Seth Silver, a native of Agoura Hills, California . "I always knew I had a story to tell and ever since I was very young I had a desire to create. As I grew older and became aware of technology I realized that Graphic Design was how I wanted to communicate with the world." He cites inspirations like his godmother, a fine artist who would take him to art museums, and buy him books on drawing and painting while growing up.

Seth chose to study Graphic Design at FIDM because of the close relationship the school has with industry professionals, alumni, and entertainment and design companies. "Growing up on brands like MTV and Coca-Cola, the concept of developing viewer and consumer relationships through Graphic Design and Visual Communication came naturally" he says. "I understood which products and brands I was drawn to and in turn was aware that initially it was from the branding that I developed my relationships." Seth says that FIDM classes like Color Theory, Typography, Logo Symbols, and After Effects gave him the necessary skills to apply the philosophy behind visual communication. While at FIDM, Seth gained experience interning with a small apparel company, where he was able to absorb Graphic Design and worldwide branding experience.

After graduating from FIDM in 2003, Seth owned and operated a boutique called Apparel Company, and also worked as a freelance graphic designer. He was then hired at Via Worldwide, a Malibu-based studio specializing in motion design and music branding for television. Today, Seth holds the prestigious position of Associate Creative Director & Producer. His responsibilities include reporting and collaborating directly with the CEO/Creative Director, managing and directing a team of designers and animators, and working directly with clients around the globe. "The best part of my job is the highly esteemed international creative staff that I work with. I could never dream that I would be working with such talented individuals," he says. "Each day is like a new beginning. I am always learning and being challenged to solve complex problems. There is never a dull moment and I would not want it any other way."

Seth recently worked on the graphic package for Miss USA 2005, which aired on NBC, and created a news package for Polsat Television, which is the largest news broadcaster in Poland. "Graphic Design allows me to collaborate with other artists and interlace styles that I can create into products and eventually extend them into brands," he says. "I knew that if I was provided the technical and creative guidance there were no limits to where my creativity could take me."
