Florence Leleji

For Debut 2005, Florence Leleji created a collection of contemporary women’s wear. Based on the romantic theme “Watery Dusk,” it was inspired largely by a photograph that captured the sun setting in her native Nigeria. Choosing a pastel palette, Florence used sheer, soft, and delicate fabrications such as silk chiffons, silk charmuese, silk velvet, fur, and jacquard to create lots of flow and movement in her silhouettes. In addition, there were lots of puffy effects and flounces. Most of the garments were cut on the bias to further flatter the female body.
